On this day in 1794, Eli Whitney was granted a patent for his machine "The Cotton Gin" that would�separate�cotton�fibbers�from cotton seeds (a job that was previously done by slaves).�
This, and other inventions of that time, sparked the�beginning�of the Industrial Revolution. A period of time that would see the majority of the economy go from small, family businesses to large�corporations.
